Tech Committee
A Sacred Responsibility in a Digital Fellowship
The Tech Committee serves at one of the most sensitive intersections within Psychedelics in Recovery: the meeting point between human vulnerability, altered states, and digital systems.
For many, technology is not peripheral — it is the front door.
A search query. A shared link. A Zoom room. A late-night scroll that turns into a moment of hope.
Those of us who serve in tech often never meet the people we help — and yet our work may be the first point of contact for someone struggling, searching, or quietly reaching out.
This is not just technical work.
It is stewardship.
In a fellowship that is largely online, technology is the connective tissue. It lives in:
- Zoom rooms that hold difficult conversations
- Emails that arrive at the right moment
- Data systems that protect anonymity and trust
- Blogs that quietly reach someone at 2 a.m.
- Newsletters that remind people they are not alone
- Flows and systems that make participation easier, not louder
When technology is working well, it is often invisible.
When it fails, the human cost can be real.
Tech Committee members are connected everywhere — not as gatekeepers, but as servants ensuring continuity, safety, and ease.
Getting Involved
Want to serve on the Tech Committee?
The Tech Committee does not require technical mastery, professional credentials, or advanced expertise.
What it requires is:
- A willingness to build tools most people will never notice
- Care for clarity, accessibility, and simplicity
- Patience with systems and people
- Respect for anonymity and data ethics
- A service-oriented mindset
Some members may bring experience in design, development, writing, or social media.
Others may bring curiosity, reliability, or a willingness to learn.
This work is not about being seen.
It is about making things easier for others.
About Us
Where Art, Science, and Human Connection Meet
Technology in a psychedelic recovery space is never purely technical.
It is part art — how something feels, reads, flows, and lands.
It is part science — systems, data, reliability, and precision.
And it is always human — shaped by vulnerability, trust, and care.
The Tech Committee operates at this intersection:
between ancient human experiences and modern digital containers.
Our work asks a simple but profound question:
Does this make it easier for someone to find support without being overwhelmed, exposed, or directed?
We are not a marketing team — we are a service committee, rooted in the Twelve Step ethos of honesty, humility, and service. Our work reflects PIR’s values: to carry the message, uphold anonymity, and support recovery journeys.
Our Purpose & Mission
The Tech Committee exists to:
Steward PIR’s Digital Spaces:
Maintain and care for PIR’s digital infrastructure — including websites, meeting platforms, communication systems, and data — so that they remain stable, secure, accessible, and trustworthy.
Support Access to Recovery:
Ensure that individuals searching for recovery resources can reliably find accurate information, meeting access, service opportunities, and educational materials when and where they need them.
Practice Neutrality & Restraint:
Hold technology with humility and responsibility, remaining neutral in messaging and design, and avoiding the temptation to curate, persuade, or influence personal beliefs, experiences, or recovery paths.
Protect Trust, Anonymity & Safety:
Safeguard personal data, privacy, and anonymity across all digital platforms, recognising the vulnerability of those who engage with PIR and the sensitivity of recovery-related spaces.
Create Invisible Tools in Service of Connection:
Develop and maintain tools, systems, and workflows that are often unseen, but which reduce friction, simplify participation, and make it easier for the fellowship to function smoothly — online and across service structures.
Bridge Technology, Humanity & Recovery:
Serve at the intersection of human connection, psychedelic recovery, and modern technology, recognising that technical decisions carry real-world impact for individuals seeking help, understanding, and belonging.
