GSR COMMITTEE

Bridging groups and the Fellowship

The role of a Group Service Representative is one of quiet spiritual responsibility. GSRs serve as living bridges—carrying the voice, needs, and conscience of individual meetings into the wider fellowship, and returning clarity, guidance, and shared wisdom back to the groups they represent. Rooted in humility rather than authority, this position asks members to listen deeply, speak honestly, and hold the integrity of the message without distortion. Through service, presence, and trust, GSRs help ensure that PIR® remains connected, responsive, and aligned with its collective spirit.

What is the GSR committee?

The GSR Committee is a trusted servant group within the PIR® service structure, a reunion of all PIR General Service Representatives, coming together to serve the fellowship as a whole. It is the place where each group’s voice is heard and where information flows both ways—between individual meetings and PIR service.

At GSR Committee meetings, representatives:

  • Receive updates and news about what is happening across the PIR fellowship
  • Bring forward concerns, questions, or needs from their home groups
  • Seek guidance and work collaboratively to find solutions
  • Share experience, strength, and hope through service
The GSR Committee is also where new ideas are born. GSRs can propose new initiatives, committees, or changes that support the health and growth of the fellowship on behalf of the groups they represent.  Through group conscience, members discuss these proposals bring the proposal back to groups and vote on matters that affect PIR as a whole. The GSR Subcommittee actively practices the Twelve Traditions by placing unity, service, and group conscience at the center of every discussion. Decisions are guided by open dialogue, respect for differing perspectives, and a shared commitment to the common welfare of PIR as a whole. Through thoughtful facilitation, transparency, and reliance on collective wisdom, the Subcommittee honors the spirit of trusted servants, safeguards anonymity and inclusivity, and remains accountable to the fellowship it serves. Above all, the GSR Committee is a place of fellowship, support, and shared responsibility. It offers guidance to GSRs in their role and creates a safe, respectful space to problem-solve together—ensuring that PIR continues to serve its members with clarity, unity, and purpose.
